Hello - There are several options for you - please call Trish Watkins at the AOA at 800.365.2219 ext 225 and she can refer you to an optometrist in your area who practices vision rehabilitation and can assist with your mother's bioptic. The laboratories require prescription from us for this type of treatment due to specifications with the spectacle carrier and telescopic lenses and I'm sure someone close by can assist you with this. You could also contact the California Optometric Association if needed in Sacramento. If your mother has a visual impairment and it's been a while since she saw a low vision specialist and had an examination, I would suggest she see an optometrist specializing in this field as this doctor can both verify her needs haven't changed and assist you both with the bioptic.
