Ken, you might also try contacting the Western Law Center's Disability Mediation Center in Los Angeles (Tel: 213-736-8104) It's been my experience that doctors and folks at low vision clinics won't tangle with a government agency like the DMV. The DMV's policy is written loosely to allow the most flexible interpretatin of the rules and regulations for their examiners and representatives, not to engender at better climate for our needs. You might alos try contacting the Center for the Patially Sighted in Los Angeles at 310-458-3501. Dr. Patel is very knowledgeable on these topics.
