If what you want to determine from this information is whether or not you are a candidate for driving, your best way to find this out is to have your own low vision evaluation with a professional who is familiar with the driving laws in your state. Don't assume that because someone with your same diagnosis on paper can or cannot drive that the same will be true for you. I was told my vision was 20/200 but when I went for a low vision evaluation I had readings of 20/100. You can visit my web site for more information on Bioptic Driving.

: After reading many posts by individuals on this site regarding their varying degrees of success in obtaining a driver's license, I would like to inquire as to whether anyone with the following diagnosis has ever obtained a drivers license in New York State. Here is my diagnosis as taken from a note written by my opthamologist.

: Albinism
: Nystagmus, macular hypoplasia, and a best corrected distance accuity of 20/200 in both eyes.

: As to those who have obtained driver's licenses (in New York or elsewhere), would any of you be willing to post your diagnosis (anonymously of course) to this site?? If more people are willing to furnish detailed diagnostic information to this site I believe it would be of benefit to those seeking assistance from their vision care providers in obtaining driving privileges.

: Please accept my thanks in advance to all who respond to this posting and Happy New Year to all.
