Greetings!

At 8:40 eastern time Tuesday October 28, 1997, I became
a legally liscensed driver!

I was a nevous wreck, but I got the nicest trooper (no
that is not a contradiction in terms). He was very helpful
and actually had a personality.

I have definitely driven better in the past than I drove today, but
I drove well enough to pass. As he was filling out the
paper work, he looked at my birth date and said "You've
waited a long time for this." By this time I was a little
teary eyed and I explained that when I was 16 they told
me I'd never drive but between my eyes improving and
the improvements in contact lenses now I could try for
a liscense. He congratulated me and told me to be safe.

To all of those considering driving or in the midst of
the process. Good Luck! I am by no means an expert. I
still have a lot to learn, but I am looking forward to
learning!! It is an arduous, frustrating process, but the
pay off is big! I hope you all know someone like my friend
Jeanne. She was and continues to be a huge supporter and
didn't even bat an eye when I bashed in the back left signal
on her van. She is a patient teacher and a true friend.

Thanks to all in NOAH and on these boards who offered their
support and best wishes.

Take care,

Lee Laughlin, L.D. (Liscensed Driver:-)
