: Can anyone recommend a website that contains advice on picking a car that is best suited to low vision driving? Also, is it hard to use manual transmissions? Should I insist on an automatic transmission?

: Thanks for the info.

Kris,

I don't know of a web site that has the info you are looking for, but I host a web site on BiOptic driving. The link is below. Maybe I'll add some things to consider when purchasing a car. You can find several sites on the web that discuss which cars are safer.

I drive with a BiOptic. When I purchased a car I bought one much like the one I learned to drive because it felt comfortable. I have a Ford Contour. I would suggest you test drive several just to see what you feel most comfortable in, which one gives you the most visibility and comes closest to meeting your special needs. Some like a truck or van which puts them above traffic. I like a small vehicle because it is easier for me to handle when backing out and parking. The next car I buy will definitely have a keyless remote door opener! Good luck with car shopping.
