: In response to all your questions surrounding Senator Hayden's Safe Driver Legislation, I would like to clarify a few issues.

: First of all, Senator Hayden's legislation would not change any of the vision testing that is currently done in the California DMV.
: This bill would not restrict the use of BiOptic lenses while driving any more than the DMV currently restricts them. The bill is
: simply putting into statute that which the DMV has a policy of doing: requiring drivers to pass a vision test without using a BiOptic
: telescopic lens in order to meet the minimum vision standard. Regular corrective lenses will still be permitted during a DMV vision
: test.

Although I don't plan to try to drive, somebody who does, or who has a half-way decent grasp of logic please correct me if I'm wrong. But if your are going to use a BiOptic to drive, and you went to all that trouble to get one and learn to use it to drive, why would you be expected to pass the driver's test WITHOUT it? Seems to me that if you can function well enough to pass the test without it, then you don't need it. But if you do need it, then taking the test without it sounds to me like a guaranteed way to fail.

What do you think?

Sharlene
