: Hi Brandon,
: I just wanted to let you know that I have contacted the Alabama Department of Public Safety and the UAB Low Vision Clinic and have gotten the same information. Alabama does not allow BiOptic driving. The Clinic did tell me some of the same things you already know. 20/60 to 20/70 is the cutoff to allow licensing, which may include restrictions. Maybe they could help you to be able to use your BiOptic (legally). It just doesn't seem right that you have a resticted license but you're not allowed to use a BiOptic. The number for the low vision clinic is 205 934-2625.
: I'm very interested in this subject. I don't have OA but I am a carrier. My 3 year old was diagnosed at 6 months. My brother has OA (as well as many other males in past generations) but my son's was the first time we had ever heard the correct diagnosis.
: Dr. Hutson Hay is a very good ophthalmologist here in Huntsville. He seems very willing to help and might could help you with your restrictions.
: I'm guessing that your job is at Redstone. I'm also located here. My number is 961-1996. Please feel free to call me if you'd like.

Hi Connie,
My daughter has Albinism, she is 16. We live in north Al. The Rehab in Jackson Co. is sending her to Huntsville, We are interested in BiOptic lenses, she wants to drive. I hope some of the laws will change, she will be so disappointed, she is a very independent girl with lots of potential for her future. Maybe we can meet sometime. I need friends in Huntsville, for I dont know my way around, I'll learn though.

Rose
