Page,

What sort of BiOptic do you have? Did you get the Ocutech that is not an autofocus? I've seen the manual focus one they have on the web page and wondered if that is the one you got? Is it much lighter than the autofocus one? What made you decide to go with the manual focus one. I realize for driving one has to trun off the auto focus lens in the autofocus Ocutech anyways.

No, Dr. Witkin did not show me the manual focusing one in comparison. I'd told him I'd seen the autofocus on their web page and this is how I learned of it, but we did not do any sort of comparison. Wonder why? Maybe he makes more when he sells an autofocusing one! I wonder if I should ask him about this? Although, every time I call to ask him a question I get his assistant/secertary and tell her my question then she gives me the asnwer. I haven't spoken with him since the appoitment.

Also, I'm trying to get my insurance company to help pay for this and he seems resistant to this idea too. He wants the entire payment up front and won't accept one half and then the other half on delivery like I guess your doctor would. However, I've spoken with my insurance company and they told me to write a letter and send any/all information I can about how it will help me and the brochures and web page. Plus, they asked me to ask him to write a letter on how this device will assist me. This is a sugguestion by my parents and insurance company. Also, I need to have him send me a copy of what he sends to my insurance company.

I still need to get the BiOptics ordered before I can think about driving, although I already am thinking of it. I really want to drive, and I know Ill be a good driver. I'll also see about getting a permit. Did they have you see an occupational therpist at Emory. They have told me I'd have to see one of these and then be referred to driver's school. I think my fiance took classes from the school you took ones from too. Back when he learned to dirve, 20 yrs ago!!! WOW! On 285! Was it scarey! How long did it take for you to complete the course? Sorry about all the questions.

Katey
