I live in New York. My eye doctor fitted me for my BiOptics & originally for contacts. He had to send a note (Maybe it was a form)into DMV which waived the eye exam at DMV. He tested my vision in his office & basically vouched for me. Many people who don't have BiOptics or really low vision have gotten this waiver as well. I suggest that you ask your eye doctor if this would be an option for you. The only catch for me is that I'm supposed to go back & have my vision tested once a year to be sure I can still see well enough. My vision hasn't changed in years so I don't see any problems.
Good luck
